• eiffel, minkowski, hilbert and hera have a shitty paranormal investigation show a la ghost hunters, etc
• minkowski is the main host and is adamant that ghosts exist and they WILL get proof. this is like her life’s dream
• hilbert is the tech guy who has some different kind of spirit-detecting gadget or pseudoscientific explanation every single episode
• hera does most of the research and also is their actual driver. but she mostly stays outside in the van while they’re all investigating because she’s not fucking with any ghosts or demons. nope
• doug operates the cameras but also is the resident staunch skeptic and absolutely insists that ghosts do not exist
• and then he usually spends the entirety of every investigation screaming at every single odd sound or movement. along with his constant reference-slinging this has resulted in several memes and made him a fan favorite, which means that when he claims that he gets weird phone calls late at night and that some woman is following him around, everybody assumes it’s weird fan stuff. also, it’s doug
• they keep getting little tantalizing glimpses of evidence, figures in their video, voices in the recordings – but then they discover that hilbert has been faking the evidence under the instructions of their producer, mr. cutter, because minkowski is way too serious about ghost hunting to fake the amount of evidence required to actually compel an audience
• minkowski’s hopes are dashed and all of them realize that if they’re exposed as having faked all that evidence they’re probably going to lose their audience and their jobs
• that’s when hera, already digging into the shady stuff their producers are getting up to, finds the tapes of the pilot episode of a show very much like theirs – except that it plays out like a bad found footage horror movie and everyone involved has apparently gone missing
• isn’t that hilbert on the tapes, though? and isn’t that the woman who keeps stalking eiffel around the country, yelling at him about ghosts?
• turns out eiffel is actually a psychic and the spirit of isabelle lovelace, ghost hunter, has been trying to get his attention for months to warn him that something seriously shady is going down with their bosses
• “so you’ve been sending me all those staticky phone calls and weird dreams?” eiffel says
• “that’s actually not me,” lovelace says. “I don’t know who that is. also I can’t believe you’ve been accidentally contacting ghosts for months and you didn’t even realize it”
• now they have to somehow both keep the show afloat and figure out what’s going on with mr cutter and how lovelace died
• SI5 are a new, competing ghost hunting show with a much higher budget and probably a better timeslot who keep showing up to the same locations
