Quick sketches of Lucretia from The Adventure Zone! She is my favorite character from the podcast (probably one of my most favorite fictional characters in general), so I really wanted to draw her for a long time now. ❤

today’s Novel I Want To Read But Not Write: wilde-esque comedy of manners about a young aristocrat seeking a hobby to occupy him in his Genteel Leisure that takes an abrupt turn for the eldritch in the second act, except

  1. the narrative style stays exactly the same, and
  2. the protagonist reacts to increasingly appalling and monstrous terrors with precisely the same aplomb as he reacts to various Society Mishaps in the first part of the novel

~ the pondering muse🌙

With all the bad news happening in the last few months surrounding our planet from climate change satellites deployment being halted and then ordered destroyed to the fact that we may have only a few decades to prevent total catastrophic collapse, we tend to miss the good things. So, here’s a list of some amazing victories.

– The Ozone will be completely healed by 2060.

– Biodegradable plastics are becoming popular.

– Solarpunk & Lunarpunk communities are thriving.

– Communities are starting to talk about climate change and adaptation and putting it into action.  transitionnetwork.org/

– Co-op’s are popping up for everything.

– Extinction Rebellion is calling for massive change to save our planet.

– Spain wants to cut 90% of carbon by 2050.

– Scotland’s Wind Turbines generated 98% of it’s energy demands.

–  We can sue the government over climate change.

– Elephants are adapting to poaching by not developing tusks.

This is just a small list of the amazing things we have done together as solarpunks, lunarpunks, and communities (not to mention the animals that are adapting). If I was to keep a log, I would be constantly adding new things to this list on a daily basis and wouldn’t be able to keep up with it all. No matter how dark and bleak our futures may seem, what’s a little darkness to Lunarpunks? We all can and will thrive. Don’t loose hope. Keep pushing for a better tomorrow and a better today. It can and it is slowly taking shape.

argumate:

problematic tropes are only problematic due to their prevalence, not bad in and of themselves; they are bad on a statistical level.

this complicates the discourse significantly as it means any individual application of a terrible trope is not very terrible at all, a subtlety that is hard to express and which most people don’t seem to get.

bold talk for a post that doesn’t even pass the bechdel test

This could be a real funny game

Rules:

  1. roll 2 dice.
  2. make a rectangle with the sides generated
  3. The rectangle must be connected to your existing territory.
  4. The first players first rectangle is placed in a corner. The second players first rectangle in the opposing corner.
  5. If you cannot make the rectangle generated you skip your turn.
  6. When all space is filled you end the game.
  7. The one with the most territory wins.

Strategy:

Any unclaimed territory cut off from your opponents territory will eventually be yours. Like the unnumbered squares in minesweeper it is free real estate. Try to cut of an area as large as possible from your opponent to get as much of this as possible. If both players follow this strategy it’s almost entierly based on luck.

Variations:

You could also elliminate a player when they cannot place their rectangle. Then the other player get roll for as long as they can place their rectangles. This version is much more strategic.
